Final Peice - Bottle Making Process

To make my baby bottle I took a cylinder shaped piece of wood and loaded it up into the wood turning lathe. I needed as different bottom holder so that I could keep it in the lathe whist shaping it.
The piece of wood wasn't an evenly cylinder so I had to us this tool called a gouge tool so make it flat surfaced so I could begin to shape it into the baby bottle.

I used other tools to create the shape of the bottle. For example; to make the outside curves, I used a tool called a square point tools, for the inside curves I used a tool named round point tool and for the symmetrical cut out bit I used a tool called a parting tool.

One I got the shaped I wanted, I used three kinds of sand paper to make the surface nice and smooth. These were;
Black = P180
Red = P100
Green = P50
I started with the P50 to make the surface all ready for a softer sand paper. The I used the P100 to make the surface smooth. Then I used the P180 to get rid of all the line the P100 made on the surface of the bottle.

Once the bottle was the right shape, was sanded down and I could paint it using white, grey and black acrylic paints. This is the outcome of my bottle which is now ready to go in my final piece box.
